PrimeTime Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Provide application engineering support for the PrimeTime static timing analysis (STA) tool across pre-sales and post-sales engagements. Enable customers to adopt and use PrimeTime effectively by delivering training, troubleshooting timing issues, and collaborating with R&D, sales, and marketing to improve product fit.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typical experience: MSEE with 3–4 years or BSEE with 5+ years; equivalent practical experience considered.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Support PrimeTime across pre-sales evaluations and post-sales customer engagements.
• Drive product adoption via competitive benchmarking, customer evaluations, and technical demonstrations.
• Deliver customer training, technical presentations, and hands-on workshops.
• Provide tape-out support and troubleshoot complex timing and sign-off issues.
• Collaborate with R&D, marketing, and sales to relay customer feedback and influence product improvements.
• Develop and maintain documentation, best practices, and knowledge-base content.
• Participate in advanced customer collaboration projects to improve flows and methodologies.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities:

• Deep, hands-on experience with Synopsys PrimeTime STA tool and its workflows.
• Strong understanding of timing corners, process variation effects, and signal integrity concerns.
• Familiarity with synthesis, physical design, extraction, and ECO methodologies.
• Proficiency in TCL scripting for automation and tool customization.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot tape-out issues and provide effective, timely support.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; experience in customer-facing technical roles preferred.
• Ability to create training materials and deliver workshops to engineering teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with competitive benchmarking, benchmarking toolchains, or integration with EDA flows.
• Prior experience collaborating directly with R&D to influence product features.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or equivalent with 3–4 years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience is accepted.
