Job Title

Pre-Silicon Verification Engineer

Role Summary

As a mixed-signal pre-silicon verification engineer you will design and execute verification for mixed-signal components, create simulation models, and debug presilicon issues. You will work with architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams to ensure designs meet performance, power, and timing goals.

Primary mission: deliver reliable verification environments and improve verification methodologies for complex analog-digital subsystems.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career. Typical experience: approximately 1+ years in design verification for candidates with a Bachelor's degree; Master's degree candidates may qualify with 0+ years.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute verification plans for mixed-signal components.
  • Build and maintain testbenches and verification environments for functionality, timing, and power checks.
  • Create analog behavioral and system simulation models to identify and reproduce presilicon bugs.
  • Replicate, root-cause, and debug design issues; define and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with digital and analog architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams.
  • Conduct technical reviews of test plans and verification proofs.
  • Enhance verification infrastructure and methodologies to improve coverage and efficiency.
  • Automate verification tasks using scripting (e.g., Python) and advanced tools, including AI-assisted techniques.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills:

  • Practical experience in design verification roles (see Experience Level above).
  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog and Verilog for verification.
  • Experience debugging presilicon issues and implementing fixes.
  • Familiarity with scripting for automation, especially Python.
  • Strong problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Must live and work in Canada for this posting.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with OVM/UVM methodologies and test-environment development.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming principles applied to verification.
  • Experience with AI-based verification tools and advanced verification tooling.
  • Experience with timing, power verification, and analog behavioral modeling.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 1+ years of verification experience; OR a Master's degree in a related field with 0+ years of experience. Relevant fields include Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical disciplines.
