Job Title

Pre-Silicon Engineering Intern

Role Summary

Six-month internship within Intel's Data Center Group focused on pre-silicon functional verification and validation of silicon designs. The intern will support development of verification plans, testbenches, and verification environments, and will work with architecture and design teams to validate functionality, power, and performance.

Hybrid role based in San Jose, Costa Rica; hands-on project work to build verification and scripting skills.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship). Intended for students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate technical degree program.

Responsibilities

The intern will support verification activities and related engineering tasks. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to functional logic verification to ensure designs meet specifications.
  • Develop verification plans, test benches, and components of the verification environment.
  • Perform simulation and emulation to verify design behavior, power, and performance.
  • Debug issues, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate on corrective measures.
  • Work closely with architecture and design teams to ensure functional correctness and implementation efficiency.
  • Complete assigned project deliverables over the six-month internship period.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and eligibility:

  • Coursework or practical exposure to logic design, verification, or architecture.
  • Basic scripting experience (Python or Shell).
  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux and Windows command-line usage.
  • Upper-intermediate to advanced English communication skills.
  • Unrestricted permanent right to work in Costa Rica.
  • Willingness to learn verification methodologies and tools; ability to work in a team.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Verilog, SystemVerilog, or UVM/OVM from coursework or lab projects.

Education Requirements

Working toward a bachelor’s, licenciate, or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Relevant coursework in logic design, verification, and computer architecture is expected.
