Job Title

Pre-silicon Engineering Intern

Role Summary

Industry Immersion intern supporting pre-silicon functional verification and related activities within the Data Center Group. Works with architecture and design teams to verify silicon logic, run simulations/emulation, debug issues, and help implement corrective measures.

Six-month full-time internship with hands-on projects to develop verification, scripting, and debugging skills under mentorship in a hybrid work model.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Intern. Suitable for current students or recent graduates; experience expected primarily from coursework, labs, or prior internships.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include verifying silicon designs and supporting the verification flow to ensure functional correctness and performance goals.

  • Contribute to functional logic verification to ensure designs meet specifications.
  • Support development of verification plans, testbenches, and verification environments.
  • Perform simulation and emulation to validate design behavior, power, and performance.
  • Debug root causes of issues and collaborate on corrective actions with design teams.
  • Collaborate with architecture and design teams to ensure correct and efficient implementation.
  • Learn and apply verification methodologies and industry-standard tools under guidance.

Requirements

Minimum technical skills and eligibility required for initial consideration. Preferred skills listed separately.

  • Experience (coursework or labs) in logic design, verification, or architecture.
  • Scripting experience (Python, Shell).
  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux and Windows environments and console commands.
  • Upper-intermediate to advanced English communication skills.
  • Unrestricted, permanent right to work in Costa Rica (required).
  • Preferred: exposure to Verilog, SystemVerilog, and UVM/OVM through coursework or labs.

Education Requirements

Working towards a Bachelor's, Licenciate, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant coursework or lab experience in logic design, verification, architecture, scripting (Python/Shell) expected.
