Job Title
Power Validation Engineer
Role Summary
The Power Validation Engineer executes validation test plans and verifies power components and systems meet specifications. The role works closely with Field Applications Engineers (FAEs) and cross-functional teams to perform lab and system-level power testing and to document results.
Experience Level
Mid-level β requires 4+ years of hands-on experience in power electronics component or system validation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on planning, executing, analyzing, and reporting validation tests at component and system levels.
- Develop and execute validation test methods, protocols, and reports for component and system verification.
- Perform daily lab testing: steady state ripple, DC loadline, jitter, transient response, bode plots, efficiency, telemetry, protection, and related measurements.
- Use common lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, frequency analyzers, electronic loads, slammers, soldering equipment, and probes.
- Perform system protocol testing (e.g., Intel VRTT, AMD SLDE, general slammer testing) and coordinate with FAEs on test execution.
- Collect, analyze, and document validation data; report defects and resolution steps.
- Collaborate with FAEs and engineering teams to identify and resolve system issues; support onsite customer validation when required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in power electronics component or system-level testing and validation.
- Proven proficiency with lab instrumentation listed above and practical test setup skills.
- Familiarity with power-electronics test methods: ripple, DC loadline, transient, efficiency, telemetry, protection, bode plots, jitter measurement.
- Ability to collaborate across functions and communicate test results clearly.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites for onsite validation when needed.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BS/BE) or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
