Power Management Systems Design and Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify analog and mixed-signal power management systems (PMICs/PMUs) for mobile, wearable, compute and automotive devices. Work with cross-functional teams (Digital, RF, Mixed-Signal, Software) to define system architecture, PCB hardware, and validation plans.
Experience Level
Mid-level (typical candidates have multiple years of relevant engineering experience; the posting accepts a range of experience from entry-level to experienced depending on academic background).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities span system design, PCB hardware, and verification.
- Define and implement switch-mode power supplies, linear regulators, and multi-domain power systems for mobile, wearable, compute and automotive applications.
- Specify and design charger and USB power systems, backlighting power, and high-current DC-DC converters.
- Perform power-grid modeling and system architecture for ultra-low-power applications using modeling languages (e.g., Verilog-AMS, Verilog-A).
- Use EDA tools for schematic entry, PCB layout, and parasitic extraction; participate in package, pinout, and PCB stackup decisions.
- Develop and run verification programs on test platforms (C#/F#) to validate analog and mixed-signal power functionality and performance.
- Conduct lab characterization and debug using power supplies, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, JTAG debuggers and frequency counters.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience. Preferred items follow.
- Practical experience with IC design and PCB design tools, SPICE, MATLAB, and scripting/programming (C, Python).
- Experience with Verilog/VHDL and analog modeling languages (Verilog-AMS, Verilog-A) for system-level modeling and verification.
- Hands-on lab and debug skills with common bench equipment and test platforms; experience writing test programs in C#/F# or similar.
- Experience with power-grid modeling, switch-mode converter design, and DC-DC converter operational principles.
- Ability to collaborate across hardware, mixed-signal, digital and software teams and to support PCB-level integration and component selection.
- Nice-to-have: experience with BiCMOS/bipolar/CMOS power integration, high-current monolithic converters, battery chargers, automotive safety circuits, and ultra-low-power architectures.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 3+ years of related engineering experience; OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 2+ years of related engineering experience; OR PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Preferred mention of Electrical or Computer Engineering and domain experience in power systems. The posting allows related technical fields as acceptable.
