Job Title
Power Management Firmware Development Team Lead
Role Summary
Lead a small firmware team responsible for power-management features on Intel Client SoCs. Act as a player‑coach: spend the majority of time on hands‑on firmware architecture and code while mentoring and coordinating with SoC architecture, hardware and validation teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Posting requests a minimum of 8 years of embedded firmware experience and 2+ years of leadership or mentoring experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical ownership and team leadership for power-management firmware:
- Architect and implement embedded C/C++ firmware for power regulation, DVFS, voltage/current management, and ultra-low-power states.
- Hands-on development of bare-metal firmware and codebase maintenance (approx. 60% hands-on, 40% people leadership).
- Lead and mentor engineers; conduct code reviews, manage timelines and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with silicon architecture, RTL, hardware and validation teams to define HW/FW interfaces and flows.
- Drive system optimization: power profiling, latency reduction, and firmware stability across bare-metal environments.
- Improve testing and validation: unit tests, system simulation frameworks, and coverage closure.
Requirements
Key must-have skills and experience.
-
Must-have: Minimum 8 years professional embedded firmware development experience in C/C++.
-
Must-have: 2+ years leading engineering projects, mentoring developers, or managing engineering personnel.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience writing bare-metal firmware for ARM or Xtensa CPUs.
-
Must-have: Strong knowledge of embedded system mitigations and experience with RTOS concepts.
-
Must-have: Deep domain knowledge of power management, state transitions, and low-level HW/FW interaction.
-
Nice-to-have: Prior experience co-designing HW/FW interfaces with silicon architecture and RTL teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline (as stated in the posting).
