Job Title

Power Intent / UPF Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Solutions Engineering team to define and validate power intent for Arm compute solutions. The role focuses on producing and validating UPF files, assessing power-domain tradeoffs, and enabling partners to improve power efficiency and implementation quality.

Arm may sponsor skilled worker visas and will meet employer-side sponsorship costs; visa application fees remain the candidate's responsibility.

Experience Level

Mid-level. No specific years of experience stated.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement power intent specifications for SoC designs.
  • Produce, maintain, merge, and validate complex UPF files describing power domains, states, retention, level shifters and isolation across hierarchical domains.
  • Investigate Power Domain Network (PDN) and on-chip power distribution trade-offs against the power intent.
  • Perform low-power verification and support partners to achieve target quality of results.
  • Document power-intent decisions and communicate technical findings to stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes:

  • Solid understanding of power intent concepts: voltage islands, power domains, power states, and power control architectures.
  • Proficiency with UPF (versions 2.0–3.1) and experience in low-power formal verification.
  • Proven track record defining and verifying power intent for SoC designs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to present technical insights clearly.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with formal verification tools (e.g. Conformal LP) for power-intent verification.
  • Scripting skills for automation (Tcl, Perl, Python, YAML).
