Power Analysis and Optimization Intern - 2027
Role Summary
Support IP teams in ASIC power analysis, modeling, optimization, and automation to improve performance per watt across NVIDIA products. The intern will run power estimation flows, analyze power behavior across workloads, and help evaluate and prototype power optimizations with design teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Intended for students currently enrolled in undergraduate or master's programs; no prior professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Typical tasks performed by the intern:
- Develop IP-level power models for early power estimation of architectural changes and new features.
- Analyze power consumption across different workloads and application scenarios.
- Use internal flows and industry-standard tools to perform power analysis and identify optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate with design teams to evaluate proposed power optimizations.
- Develop scripts and automation to improve analysis and verification efficiency.
Requirements
Skills and attributes required or strongly preferred:
- Basic understanding of digital circuit design, computer architecture, or ASIC design methodology.
- Familiarity with power consumption concepts and common low-power design techniques.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.
- Comfort with scripting or automation to improve workflows (preferred).
- Coursework or project experience in RTL design, synthesis, physical design, or computer architecture (nice-to-have).
- Familiarity with power-analysis tools such as PrimeTime PX or PowerArtist (nice-to-have).
- Experience with power modeling, workload analysis, low-power design, or building/integrating AI agents (nice-to-have).
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
