Postgraduate Integration Engineer
NexperiaJob Title
Postgraduate Integration Engineer
Role Summary
Two-year structured postgraduate programme within Nexperia Manchester's Semiconductor Process Engineering organisation. The role progresses from foundation training and structured rotations through major process areas to increasing process ownership and optimisation projects in a high-volume fab.
Work will influence product performance, yield and manufacturing readiness for Nexperia's technology roadmap. Closing date: Monday 29 June 2026.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Postgraduate (suitable for recent MSc, MEng or PhD graduates). Early-career development pathway focused on turning academic talent into industry-ready process engineers.
Responsibilities
During the two-year programme you will:
- Complete foundation training: cleanroom behaviour, device physics, SPC and structured problem solving.
- Rotate through Lithography, Etch, Deposition, Diffusion and Integration with defined learning objectives and a Six Sigma project deliverable.
- Plan, execute and analyse engineering trials across diffusion, assembly and life-test processes.
- Support Statistical Process Control reviews, recipe changes, documentation and yield incident resolution.
- Drive experimental design, risk analysis and feasibility studies for new and emerging technologies.
- Lead optimisation initiatives such as yield improvement, cost reduction and cycle-time optimisation.
- Build cross-functional relationships with equipment, yield, design and operations teams.
- Progress to coaching and mentoring others as you transition to accountable process ownership.
Requirements
Essential must-haves and operational requirements:
- Practical understanding of semiconductor processing methods; hands-on university or industrial cleanroom experience preferred.
- Understanding of semiconductor device principles and how electrical characteristics relate to fabrication variables.
- Strong data analysis skills and the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to engineering colleagues.
- Ability to work onsite at Nexperia Manchester, Monday–Friday 37.5 hours; flexibility to work shift patterns (including nights) when required.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom without sponsorship (visa sponsorship is not available).
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with electrical test principles for Power MOSFET products.
- Knowledge of silicon substrate and epitaxy for high-performance power semiconductor devices.
- Exposure to Lean Six Sigma or other structured problem-solving methodologies.
Education Requirements
Postgraduate degree required: MSc, MEng or PhD in relevant disciplines such as Semiconductor/Microelectronics Engineering; Electrical/Electronic Engineering with microelectronics/device emphasis; Materials Science & Engineering; Physics (solid-state emphasis); Chemical Engineering with semiconductor-relevant modules; or related engineering disciplines with semiconductor electives, research projects or cleanroom experience.
