Role Summary
Work on post-silicon validation and integration for multimedia/imaging IP within the Silicon Validation and Emulation Engineering team. Deliver bring-up, functional/performance/power/thermal validation, debug, and manufacturing test capabilities for SoC blocks.
The role collaborates with architects, designers, verification, firmware and software engineers to develop low-level software, test plans, automation, and to debug HW/SW issues in emulation and silicon.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 6+ years of relevant systems, hardware, firmware, or software engineering experience focused on validation, integration, and debug.
Responsibilities
Primary accountabilities for the role include:
- Plan and execute post-silicon and emulation validation for multimedia/imaging IP and related peripherals.
- Bring up hardware platforms and low-level/bare-metal software (C/C++), device drivers and firmware for validation and debug.
- Develop and run functional, performance, power, and manufacturing tests; create test plans and automation (Python preferred).
- Perform system-level and device-level debug of HW/SW interactions using emulators and lab equipment.
- Work with cross-functional teams in design reviews to capture bring-up requirements and define verification scope and schedules.
- Investigate high-speed interface and signal-integrity issues and validate MIPI, USB, UFS, PCIe, and ARM-related IP.
- Document validation results, debug findings, and recommended fixes; support RMA and manufacturing processes as needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 6+ years of Systems/Debug/Integration, hardware engineering, or equivalent experience focused on silicon validation.
- Strong programming skills in C and C++; experience with Python and shell scripting for test automation.
- Experience with in-circuit emulation/debug tools, board bring-up and low-level HW/SW debugging.
- Experience validating multimedia/peripheral IP (e.g., camera/video, MIPI, USB, UFS, PCIe) and familiarity with ARM-based SoC bring-up.
- Experience using lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) and debug environments (JTAG, Lauterbach Trace32).
- Good electrical engineering fundamentals, critical thinking, ownership, and strong communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with signal integrity, low-power design concepts, DFT/DFD and ATE/ATPG workflows.
- Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog, FPGA design, compilers/linkers/scatter-files, and C/ASM low-level development.
- Machine learning experience (TensorFlow, PyTorch) or imaging/ML inference experience is a plus.
Education Requirements
