PMIC Systems Validation Engineer
QualcommJob Title
PMIC Systems Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Work on system architecture, post-silicon functional validation, and chipset integration for Power Management IC (PMIC) solutions. Collaborate with analog/digital design, firmware/software, characterization and customer teams to define system-level specifications and validate PMIC systems used in mobile and consumer products.
Experience Level
Entry-level - typically 1–2 years of relevant experience in analog/power electronics or post-silicon validation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include system definition, validation planning, execution, and debug for PMIC solutions.
- Define top-level PMIC-system specifications (HW/FW/SW partitioning, register interfaces, memory, protocols, multi-PMIC connectivity).
- Create and execute comprehensive functional validation plans (manual and automated test cases).
- Perform hardware-level measurements, analyze results, debug issues, and produce validation reports.
- Support chipset integration and customer issue debug across global teams.
- Perform risk assessment for development and validation plans; interact with product management, design, characterization, and software teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience for day-to-day work.
- 1–2 years experience in analog/power electronics or post-silicon validation of electronic products.
- Practical post-silicon validation experience: bench measurements and/or log-based software verification.
- Familiarity with PMIC concepts, power electronics (SMPS, LDO), ADCs, battery management, and microcontroller architecture.
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments (oscilloscope, power supplies, JTAG debuggers) and PCB schematic tracing.
- Programming/scripting skills in one or more: Python, Perl, LabVIEW, C#, F# or similar; understanding of basic OOP concepts.
- Experience automating test cases and integrating software control for hardware systems.
- Good hardware debug skills and ability to develop high-level strategy and decompose into executable tasks; strong written and verbal communication.
- Nice-to-have: experience leading white-box validation, assembly-language exposure, and familiarity with tools like JIRA and GIT.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred, especially with specialization in VLSI, Microelectronics or Power Management.
