PMIC Design Engineer, Staff
QualcommJob Title
PMIC Design Engineer, Staff
Role Summary
Design and verify mixed-signal and power-management integrated circuits (PMICs). Work on architecture, circuit implementation, simulation and verification for PMIC blocks, modules, or chips within cross-functional product teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical expectation is multi-year industry experience in analog, mixed-signal or power-management IC design (see Education Requirements for degree-specific years guidance).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical design ownership, verification, and collaboration to deliver manufacturable PMIC solutions.
- Define architecture and circuit-level implementations to meet system requirements.
- Design, simulate and verify mixed-signal and power-management IC blocks and chips.
- Develop and own design and verification strategies for PMICs.
- Apply advanced knowledge of power electronics, control theory, oscillators, data converters, amplifiers, low-power references, reliability, and behavioral/UVI modeling where applicable.
- Use EDA tools for system definition, simulation, circuit design and verification.
- Collaborate with layout engineers and perform physical verification considerations.
- Document circuit implementations, control, testability, safety, manufacturability and compliance considerations.
- Provide technical guidance to other team members and participate in decision-making that affects work beyond the immediate group.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and proven hands-on experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Practical experience in analog, mixed-signal or power-management IC design (industry or equivalent project work).
- Experience using Cadence, SPICE, MATLAB, and/or Verilog/VHDL (work or academic experience).
- Experience creating and executing design and verification strategies for analog/PMIC blocks.
- Ability to collaborate with layout, verification and cross-functional teams; strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide guidance to junior engineers.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in power electronics, control theory, precision oscillators, high-accuracy data converters, analog front ends, high-bandwidth linear amplifiers, very-low-power references, electromigration/transistor reliability, behavioral modeling, or UVI techniques.
- Prior technical leadership experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 6+ years of analog/mixed-signal or PMIC design experience; OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 4+ years of such experience; OR PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 2+ years of such experience. Master's or PhD is listed as preferred where noted. (Fields referenced: Electrical Engineering or related technical fields.)
