Job Title
PMIC Analog Designer
Role Summary
Design and lead development of power-management integrated circuits (PMICs) for multi-rail and high-current applications. Serve as the technical lead within a global analog design team and as the primary interface to Tier‑1 customers and cross-functional partners to deliver production-ready silicon.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Role requires extensive experience in power-management IC development (typically 10+ years).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture, detailed design, modeling, and technical leadership for PMIC products.
- Architect, model, and define sub-system specifications for PMIC solutions (inductive and capacitive DC‑DC converters, LDOs, shunt regulators, multi‑rail architectures).
- Translate system-level specifications into cost-effective silicon designs and lead end-to-end circuit development.
- Design high-current power stages with packaging- and parasitic-aware considerations; optimize loop stability, transient response, and efficiency.
- Define architecture and detailed design specifications; lead and mentor junior design engineers.
- Develop system and behavioral models (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Verilog‑A/AMS) to validate architecture and loop stability.
- Drive and participate in critical design reviews; ensure manufacturability and design robustness.
- Act as PMIC technical lead for Tier‑1 customers and coordinate cross-functional activities (layout, test, packaging, quality, product).
- Provide technical leadership for innovation and roadmap planning; contribute to patentable solutions.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Expertise in power conversion topologies: buck, boost, buck‑boost, charge pumps, LDOs, multi‑phase architectures.
- Strong control techniques knowledge: current‑mode, voltage‑mode, hysteretic control and loop compensation.
- Deep experience in high-current power-stage design and packaging/parasitic-aware design.
- Power integrity modeling and analysis (frequency and time domain), simulation optimization, and silicon correlation.
- Solid foundation in analog design, control theory, and device physics.
- Hands‑on experience with Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre; experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
- Proven track record delivering products from concept to high-volume manufacturing; strong communication and customer collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop novel architectures and drive innovation.
Nice-to-have: experience with Verilog‑A/AMS behavioral modeling, advanced packaging simulation tools, and prior Tier‑1 customer integrations.
Education Requirements
MS in Electrical Engineering with 12+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with 10+ years of relevant experience in power-management IC development.
