Job Title

Platform Power Thermal Performance Engineer

Role Summary

Entry-level platform performance engineering role focused on validation and optimization of AI server platforms with emphasis on GPU-as-an-I/O-device interactions, CPU host architecture, I/O subsystems, and server-level performance analysis.

Work with senior engineers to develop and execute validation methods, run benchmarks, analyze results, and support debugging and cross-functional issue resolution.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Graduate candidate (college new grad). Role is designed for recent or upcoming graduates; targeted at candidates starting their platform performance engineering careers.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include validation, experimentation, and analysis for AI server platforms.

  • Support topology validation and performance analysis across CPU host, GPU, memory, storage, and networking.
  • Help develop validation plans, execute benchmarks, collect data, and analyze results for CPU host and GPU I/O performance studies.
  • Assist senior engineers in debugging performance issues, summarizing findings, and proposing practical host-platform improvements.
  • Document technical observations, communicate test progress, and support issue closure with cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to automation of tests and data processing to improve validation efficiency.

Requirements

Concise list of must-have and nice-to-have technical skills and attributes. Education requirements are listed separately below.

  • Must-have: Solid fundamentals in computer architecture, operating systems, or computer systems.
  • Must-have: Basic programming or scripting ability (Python, C/C++, or shell) and familiarity with Linux-based development.
  • Must-have: Interest in AI infrastructure, system-level performance, and learning agility to grow into the role.
  • Must-have: Good verbal and written English communication for documenting technical findings.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to GPU computing, CUDA/ROCm/OpenCL/SYCL or accelerator software stacks.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of PCIe/CXL, coherency, IOMMU, NUMA, or host-device data movement.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with benchmarking methodology, performance testing, ML/deep-learning workloads, networking, or storage from internships, research, or projects.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on system validation, lab test execution, or performance experiment design experience.

Education Requirements

Upcoming graduates with a Master of Science (M.S.) degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. The role targets graduate/college new grads.
