Platform Hardware and Systems Engineering - Intern, Graduate
Role Summary
Internship role on platform hardware and systems engineering teams working on architecture, design, validation, and integration of computing platforms. You will work on platform validation, performance optimization, power/thermal/signal integrity topics, and automation while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Intern. Intended for graduate students (Master's or PhD) with at least a few months of relevant technical experience gained through coursework, projects, internships, co-ops, or research.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include:
- Contribute to hardware and systems architecture, design, and integration tasks.
- Perform platform validation, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Support power, thermal, and signal integrity engineering activities.
- Develop scripts, automation, and AI-enabled solutions to accelerate work.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance platform capabilities.
- Execute assigned project work and communicate results to technical leads.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications.
- Must-have: Minimum of 3+ months of technical experience (coursework, academic projects, research, internships, co-ops, or similar).
- Must-have: Available to start in Spring or Summer 2027 (consideration also given to year-long internship/co-op candidates).
- Must-have: This position is not eligible for employment-based visa/immigration sponsorship.
Preferred / nice-to-have:
- GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
- Experience or interest in design, architecture, programming, scripting, data analysis, automation, modeling, simulation, validation, or debugging.
- Hands-on coursework, research, projects, or internship experience relevant to platform hardware or systems engineering.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, or a related STEM field. Academic experience may include coursework, research, academic projects, internships, co-ops, student organizations, or assistantships. GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
