Pixel Development Engineer
Role Summary
Design and develop image sensor pixel technology and qualification processes for camera systems. Work within the Camera Technologies group and collaborate with internal engineering teams and global image-sensor suppliers to bring sensor hardware from concept through production.
Experience Level
Mid-level. 3+ years relevant industry experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical evaluation, development, and validation of image sensor pixels and sensors across design, test, and production phases.
- Evaluate pixel technologies from global image sensor vendors.
- Collaborate with external sensor suppliers to develop new image sensors for target applications.
- Define and implement test plans at all development stages to ensure performance and manufacturability.
- Characterize sensors, analyze data, and support sensor bring-up and debugging.
- Document findings and present results to internal and external engineering teams.
- Work cross-functionally to integrate sensors into next-generation camera products and features.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools for pixel and sensor development. Degrees and formal education are summarized under Education Requirements below.
- Experience with pixel architecture definition, pixel design, and sensor characterization.
- Experience with TCAD simulation and related tools for pixel development.
- Familiarity with software and data-analysis tools used in pixel development (examples: Synopsys TCAD, Lumerical FDTD, JMP, MATLAB, Excel).
- Experience supporting sensor mass production and wafer-level testing.
- Ability to document and present technical results clearly to engineering teams.
- Nice-to-have: Track record of innovations, leadership or mentorship experience, and deep expertise in image sensor performance metrics and integration into camera systems.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience. Relevant fields include semiconductor physics, semiconductor process, optics, image sensor circuits, electrical/computer engineering, physics, or related technical disciplines. Preferred: Master’s or Ph.D. and 3+ years of relevant industry experience in image sensor pixel and sensor development, sensor characterization, bring-up/debug, or wafer-level testing.
