Job Title

Pixel Development Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Camera Semiconductor Devices group to design and develop image-sensor pixel technology used in Apple products. The role focuses on evaluating sensor candidates, developing sensor bring-up and characterization methods, and integrating sensors into camera subsystems.

You will collaborate with internal camera, optics, firmware and system teams and with external image-sensor suppliers to research, qualify, and deliver sensor technology for product use.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Requires professional experience in image-sensor pixel and sensor development, sensor characterization, silicon bring-up, or wafer-level testing.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate pixel and sensor technology from global image-sensor vendors and drive technical selection and improvements.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers to develop and qualify new sensors for target applications.
  • Define and implement test and characterization plans at multiple development stages to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Perform silicon bring-up, sensor characterization, issue debug, and wafer-level testing.
  • Analyze measurement data using tools such as JMP, MATLAB, and Excel and deliver technical conclusions.
  • Document and present results to internal and external engineering audiences.
  • Work cross-functionally to integrate sensors into camera systems and support feature delivery.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in image-sensor pixel and sensor development, sensor characterization, sensor bring-up and debug, or wafer-level testing.
  • Familiarity with image-sensor technology, performance metrics, and sensor integration into camera systems.
  • Hands-on experience with silicon bring-up and practical issue debugging; ability to develop novel, implementable solutions.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (JMP, MATLAB, Excel, or equivalent).
  • Awareness of industry trends and technical challenges in imaging.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, and leadership skills (preferred).

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a similar field. Preferred: Master or Ph.D. in a relevant field. The posting does not state explicit language about equivalent practical experience.
