Role Summary
Senior technical role in Applied Materials' advanced lithography group to lead OPC, resist modeling and SMO efforts for cutting‑edge optical devices. The position combines hands‑on modeling, infrastructure ownership, and cross‑functional technical leadership to support tape‑out decisions and technology downselection.
Experience Level
Senior — 10–15 years of total professional experience; at least 5 years hands‑on experience in OPC, resist modeling, or SMO in semiconductor environments.
Responsibilities
Lead complex technical projects and deliverables across engineering and research activities. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and execute engineering and R&D projects related to OPC, resist modeling, and SMO/RET downselection.
- Define experiments, sampling plans, and required data; perform data cleaning and analysis for modeling validation.
- Maintain and improve OPC infrastructure and modeling toolchain.
- Approve qualification results and troubleshoot complex system and process issues.
- Plan and run feasibility studies for new technologies and evaluate competitive technologies.
- Prepare and present technical readouts and verification results to teams and stakeholders prior to tape‑out.
- Mentor junior physicists/scientists and provide technical guidance across projects.
Requirements

- Must-have: 5+ years hands-on experience in OPC, resist modeling, and SMO in semiconductor contexts.
- Must-have: Experience in computational lithography and modeling toolchains.
- Must-have: Proven ability to lead complex projects, define experiments, and troubleshoot advanced problems.
- Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to senior stakeholders.
- Nice-to-have: Direct experience with lithography process development.
- Nice-to-have: Prior responsibility for infrastructure maintenance, tool ownership, or verification prior to tape‑out.
- Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree or equivalent practical experience.
