Physical Implementation Engineer – Machine Learning
Role Summary
Work on physical implementation and PPA optimization for Arm's machine-learning and neural-network IP. The role is in the Lund engineering team and involves collaborating with global build centers and partner teams to deliver silicon-ready RTL through place-and-route and signoff.
Primary focus areas are timing, power and area analysis, trade-off decisions across PPA metrics, and using modern EDA tool flows and technology nodes.

Responsibilities
Deliver physical implementation engineering support across ML IP projects and drive PPA improvements.
- Identify critical bottlenecks and evaluate trade-offs between frequency, power and area.
- Analyze and optimize power using low-power techniques and available EDA tools.
- Provide timing, power and area analysis and actionable recommendations to design teams.
- Support partners to achieve target PPA and align implementation flows across groups.
- Work with synthesis, place & route, LEC and STA flows on modern process nodes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes; preferred items listed separately.
- Practical knowledge of digital hardware and at least one HDL (VHDL, Verilog or SystemVerilog).
- Hands-on experience with physical implementation flow (synthesis, P&R, LEC, STA) and PPA trade-offs.
- Ability to produce estimates, planning and timelines for implementation activities.
- Strong problem-solving, initiative and proactive work-style.
- Nice-to-have: experience scripting flows (Python, TCL, Bash, MAKE), RTL simulation/verification, and familiarity with ML/AI fundamentals or tools.
Education Requirements
University degree or equivalent practical experience in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical subject. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
Compensation
Salary range provided by employer: 799,000 kr – 1,081,000 kr per year.
