Physical IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join the ASIC Products Division as a Physical IC Design Engineer responsible for physical implementation from RTL to silicon tape-out for PCIe switch and enterprise storage products supporting AI/ML and datacenter workloads.
The role focuses on physical design execution, timing closure, verification, and flow development while collaborating with RTL design teams.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include hands-on physical implementation and collaboration with design teams to deliver tape-out-ready silicon.
- Execute physical design flow: synthesis, place-and-route, physical verification.
- Set up and synthesize RTL for physical implementation.
- Perform timing closure using multiple strategies and tools.
- Conduct EM/IR analysis and address power integrity issues.
- Clock tree synthesis, floor-planning, and layout optimization.
- Develop and improve flows and methodologies for physical design.
- Collaborate closely with RTL/architectural IC design engineers.
- Work on-site at the San Jose facility; no remote work permitted.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes.
- TCL and Perl scripting proficiency.
- Proficiency with relevant EDA tools for synthesis, P&R, and physical verification.
- Proven experience across the full physical design cycle: RTL to tape-out.
- Strong timing-closure experience and practical methodologies for resolving timing issues.
- Experience with EM/IR analysis and addressing power integrity challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education Requirements
