Job Title
Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for full physical IC design of high-performance data center ASICs within the Data Center Solutions Group. Deliver RTL-to-silicon tape-out for PCIe switch and enterprise storage products, focusing on timing, power, and layout quality.
Work within a cross-functional team to develop flows and methodologies that meet aggressive performance and manufacturability targets.
Experience Level
Senior-level; minimum 12+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Key duties include executing and improving the physical design flow from RTL to tape-out.
- Execute synthesis, placement & routing, clock tree synthesis, and timing closure to tape-out.
- Perform top-level static timing analysis (STA) and implement timing closure strategies.
- Floorplanning and layout for complex SoCs; optimize for performance and routability.
- Run physical verification and EM/IR analysis and resolve signoff issues.
- Develop and maintain EDA flows, scripts, and methodology improvements.
- Collaborate closely with RTL designers, verification, and signoff teams to meet schedule and quality goals.
- Work on-site at the Colorado Springs campus; this role does not support remote work.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- Proven full physical design cycle experience: RTL to tape-out.
- Expertise in place-and-route, clock tree synthesis (including custom clock tree techniques), and top-level STA.
- Experience with floorplanning, layout tradeoffs, and high-speed design challenges.
- EM/IR analysis and physical verification experience.
- Proficiency in TCL and Perl scripting for EDA tool automation.
- Experience using commercial EDA tools for synthesis, P&R, STA, and signoff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
