Role Summary

The Physical Design Engineer will implement custom IP and SoC designs from RTL to GDS, developing a design database ready for manufacturing. Responsibilities include conducting the physical design flow such as synthesis, place and route, and verification. The candidate should possess expertise in structural and physical design methodologies and have strong problem-solving skills.

Experience Level

This position is ideal for candidates with significant experience in physical design, requiring a minimum of 6 years in the field with a Bachelor's degree, or 5 years with a Master's, or 4 years with a PhD.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing physical design implementation of custom IP and SoC designs.
  • Conducting synthesis, place and route, clock tree synthesis, and timing analysis.
  • Verifying designs with static timing analysis, equivalence verification, and power integrity checks.
  • Optimizing designs for power, frequency, and area.
  • Participating in the improvement of design methodologies and flow automation.

Requirements

The ideal candidate must have a strong background in physical design and verification tools, with familiarity in Synopsys or Cadence tools, and relevant experience through jobs, internships, or academic work.

Education Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is required. Higher qualifications are preferred, including a Master's or PhD with relevant experience.
