Physical Design Engineer
NVIDIAJob Title
Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Networking Silicon physical design team to implement high-speed communication chip blocks, focusing on best possible power, area and performance under tight constraints. The role covers end-to-end physical design activities from RTL to GDS for complex, high-cell-count and high-speed blocks.
Experience Level
Mid-level engineer - typically requires 3+ years of relevant physical design experience.
Responsibilities
Work on all aspects of block physical design and contribute to improving design flows.
- Perform physical design (RTL-to-GDS): synthesis, power and clock distribution, place and route, timing closure, and physical verification.
- Optimize designs for power, area and performance while meeting timing and congestion constraints for high-cell-count and high-speed blocks.
- Conduct power and noise analysis and resolve complex timing and congestion issues.
- Contribute to development and improvement of physical design flows and methodologies.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 3+ years of relevant physical design experience.
- Practical knowledge of physical design flows and methodologies (PNR, STA, physical verification).
- Deep understanding of physical construction and block integration.
- Familiarity with physical verification practices and methodologies (LVS/DRC).
- Experience with common physical-design EDA tools (for example Synopsys, Cadence).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
