Job Title

Physical Design CAD Engineer

Role Summary

Join NVIDIA's Networking Silicon engineering team to develop physical design, synthesis, STA and logic-equivalence methodologies for high-speed networking SoCs. The role focuses on implementation flow development and timing/power/noise convergence to deliver production chips.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Early-career) β€” at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include defining methodologies and executing implementation flows to achieve timing, power and signal-integrity goals across networking chips.

  • Develop physical design, synthesis, STA and logic-equivalence methodologies for SoC implementation.
  • Collaborate with block owners, full-chip STA engineers and project managers to ensure timely convergence and quality.
  • Propose and implement solutions for complex physical design challenges (floorplan, power/clock distribution, placement, routing).
  • Develop and improve flows and tool methodologies for floorplanning, P&R, timing analysis/closure, power and noise analysis, and back-end verification.
  • Perform ECOs and other optimizations to improve timing and power while meeting manufacturing rules and electrical constraints.

Requirements

Concise list of required and preferred skills.

Must-have:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant physical-design or CAD experience.
  • Proficiency in scripting: Python, Perl, Tcl, and Make.
  • Experience analyzing and converging crosstalk, delay, noise/glitch, and electrical/manufacturing rules in deep-submicron processes.
  • Knowledge of physical-design optimization techniques: placement, routing, cell sizing, buffering, logic restructuring, and implementing ECOs.
  • Experience modeling process variation effects and converging designs considering variation.
  • Proven track record of delivering designs to production.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, and good written/verbal/presentation skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with Synopsys (DC/Design Compiler, Fusion Compiler, PrimeTime) and Cadence (Innovus, Tempus) EDA tools.
  • Experience owning or defining methodology/flow steps for synthesis, P&R or STA.
  • Demonstrated ownership, ability to self-learn, and strong teamwork skills.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is listed; equivalent practical experience is explicitly accepted.
