Physical AI, Computer Vision Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and optimize embedded software that enables real-time perception, sensor processing, AI inference, and control for intelligent edge systems (robotics, industrial automation, automotive, machine vision, aerospace).
Work across embedded Linux and RTOS platforms and heterogeneous compute (CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, AI accelerators) to deliver low-latency, deterministic solutions. Locations: Austin, TX; Novi, MI; San Jose, CA. This position is hybrid and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for AI-enabled edge platforms.
- Implement software for Linux and real-time operating systems to achieve deterministic, low-latency execution.
- Design and implement real-time perception, sensor processing, control, and autonomous decision-making software.
- Develop and integrate computer vision, image processing, and AI inference applications for deployment on edge devices.
- Build and optimize high-performance image, video, and sensor processing pipelines.
- Optimize software across heterogeneous architectures (CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, dedicated AI accelerators).
- Collaborate with AI, FPGA, hardware, systems, and platform teams on integration, bring-up, debugging, and validation.
- Analyze and optimize latency, throughput, memory use, power efficiency, and overall system performance.
- Contribute to software architecture, documentation, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
- Develop demonstrations, reference applications, and customer enablement solutions.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Proven experience developing embedded software for AI-enabled edge or real-time systems.
- Strong skills with embedded Linux and/or RTOS platforms and deterministic, low-latency software design.
- Experience with computer vision, image/video processing, and integrating AI inference engines into embedded systems.
- Experience optimizing software on heterogeneous computing platforms (CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, AI accelerators).
- Experience in platform bring-up, debugging, validation, and system integration.
- Skills in performance profiling and optimization (latency, throughput, memory, power).
- Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams (software, AI, FPGA, silicon, systems).
Nice-to-have / Preferred:
- Experience with RTOS such as QNX or Green Hills.
- Familiarity with AMD deployment frameworks (e.g., Vitis AI) or similar toolchains.
- Experience with AMD embedded platforms (Ryzen Embedded, EPYC Embedded, Versal AI Edge, Zynq UltraScale+, Kria) or equivalent.
- FPGA acceleration and hardware/software co-design experience.
- AI frameworks and inference deployment experience (ONNX, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Experience with ROS 2 and robotics software architectures.
- Knowledge of perception sensors (cameras, radar, lidar) and sensor fusion.
- Familiarity with graphics/visualization (OpenGL, Vulkan, Wayland) and Linux kernel/BSP/device driver development.
- Background in robotics, automotive, industrial automation, aerospace, or machine vision domains.
