PHY Design Verification Engineer
AppleJob Title
PHY Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join the wireless silicon verification team responsible for pre-silicon RTL verification of PHY and its interfaces within a wireless SoC. The role focuses on developing reusable verification environments and ensuring metric-driven design quality across block and subsystem levels.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. The posting requires extensive industry experience (see Education Requirements for years guidance).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include RTL verification, test bench architecture, and validation of PHY subsystems.
- Review PHY microarchitecture and create verification plans from specifications.
- Design block/subsystem-level test benches and reference models with reusability in mind.
- Develop and execute directed and constrained-random tests; debug failures and track/drive issue closure with designers.
- Create and analyze coverage models and add tests to meet coverage targets.
- Support subsystem validation using emulation (e.g., Palladium) and FPGA platforms.
- Apply machine learning / AI techniques to analyze verification data and uncover issues.
- Contribute to improving DV methodology and flows across the team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience follow. Education and years-of-experience requirements are listed under Education Requirements below.
Must-have:
- Verification experience of wireless or wired communication blocks/subsystems at block or subsystem level.
- Advanced knowledge of Verilog, SystemVerilog, UVM, and SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA).
- Experience with ASIC verification flows: test bench development, constrained-random testing, and code/functional coverage.
- Proven debug skills, bug management, and collaboration with designers to resolve issues.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience using MATLAB or C reference models and bit-accurate verification.
- Familiarity with wireless protocols such as Bluetooth, UWB, WLAN, or Zigbee.
- Scripting skills (Python, shell, Perl) and experience using AI for data analysis.
- Experience with Palladium, FPGA validation, and subsystem-level validation environments.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Education Requirements
BS degree required and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience (as specified in the posting). No specific field of study or certifications are specified.
