Focus areas include photonic device and circuit modeling, data-driven analysis, photonic optimization, and software tools to support design and automation.

Experience Level

Mid-level - requires approximately 5 years of relevant work or academic research experience in integrated photonics.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Collaborate with system engineering to define product requirements and develop PIC screening plans.
  • Perform data-driven modeling of photonic devices and circuits to inform design decisions.
  • Design and optimize multi-component photonic circuits and components.
  • Analyze experimental and simulation data to evaluate device and circuit performance.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain software tools for photonic design, simulation, and data analysis.
  • Work with foundry, test, and cross-functional teams to validate circuits and implement improvements.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical qualifications:

  • Must-have: ~5 years of relevant work or academic research experience in integrated photonics.
  • Must-have: Strong computational and analytical skills for photonic design and data analysis.
  • Must-have: In-depth knowledge of photonic devices, performance metrics, and testing techniques.
  • Must-have: Proficiency in Python for scientific computing, automation, and tool development.
  • Must-have: Extensive experience with commercial photonic design and electromagnetic simulation tools and photonic optimization techniques.
  • Must-have: Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Mathematica, AWS services, SQL for data manipulation, and parallel computation techniques.

Education Requirements

PhD or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science (or equivalent practical experience as stated).
