Peripherals Design Verification - Sr Lead Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Peripherals Design Verification - Sr Lead Engineer
Role Summary
Lead verification efforts for peripheral IP and subsystems on the ASICs Engineering team. Own verification strategy, test planning, testbench development and cross-functional coordination to deliver production-quality silicon.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 8+ years of verification experience. Qualcomm lists degree-dependent minimums (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining and executing verification plans and mentoring engineers.
- Define verification strategy and create detailed test plans for peripheral IP and subsystems.
- Develop and maintain coverage-driven, constraint-random UVM/SystemVerilog testbenches.
- Implement stimulus, agents, monitors and checkers; integrate C-based reference models into testbenches.
- Drive coverage closure, run regressions, and analyze results to identify RTL issues.
- Debug complex interactions between RTL, verification environment and software models.
- Automate verification flows and regressions using scripting.
- Coordinate with RTL, validation and system teams; mentor and lead junior verification engineers.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 8+ years of unit and IP-level verification experience.
- Strong SystemVerilog and UVM expertise; hands-on with coverage-driven, constraint-random verification.
- Proven experience in testbench development (stimulus, agent, monitor, checker) and test planning.
- Experience using C-based reference models inside verification environments.
- Familiarity with standard protocols such as PCIe, CXL, USB, Ethernet.
- Scripting experience (Perl, Python) for automation and test infrastructure.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior experience leading verification teams or large IP verification efforts.
- Experience with FPGA prototyping, silicon bring-up, or system-level validation flows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field with 6+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR Master's in those fields with 5+ years; OR PhD in those fields with 4+ years. Fields explicitly referenced: Computer Science and Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
