Role Summary
Lead SI/PI engineering for Rambus's Memory Interface Chips BU in Bangalore, focusing on modeling, analysis and simulation of signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) for high-speed DDR products.
The role partners with design, package, validation teams and customers to define specifications, optimize SI/PI solutions, and support lab correlation and bring-up.
Experience Level
Senior - Principal Engineer level. Requires 10+ years of industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties to define methodology, perform simulations, and support cross-functional delivery.
- Create SI/PI methodologies and perform SI/PI studies and package design for the DDR product portfolio.
- Define packaging and PCB routing specifications, IC-PKG-BRD decoupling requirements, channel simulations and jitter sensitivity analysis.
- Provide simulation-based guidelines and correlate results with silicon to ensure SI performance.
- Collaborate with customers to identify optimal SI/PI solutions.
- Support lab debug and system bring-up when required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tool experience. Items marked as "plus" are desirable but not mandatory.
- Strong background in signal integrity, power integrity and package design.
- Experience simulating high-speed memory interfaces (DDR4, DDR5) and/or SERDES.
- Solid theoretical understanding of electromagnetics and transmission line theory.
- Expertise with equalization techniques (FIR / FFE / DFE / CTLE).
- Familiarity with package and PCB design and ability to use APD / Allegro layout files.
- Experience correlating simulations with lab measurements using oscilloscopes, TDRs and VNAs.
- Proficient with Spice and ADS for circuit and channel simulations.
- Experience with HFSS, Q3D or equivalent electromagnetic extraction tools (required).
- Familiarity with RedHawk, Totem or XcitePI is a strong plus.
- On-Die PDN design exposure is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, work independently, and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Engineering (BE), Master of Science (MS) or MTech in Electrical Engineering. The posting specifies 10+ years of industry experience.
