Job Title
PE Product Engineer
Role Summary
The PE Product Engineer will ensure product reliability and expected gross margins for memory and interface products by supporting first-silicon bring-up, yield ramp and production. The role works within a cross-functional product engineering team and coordinates with test engineers, OSATs and fabs.
Day-to-day responsibilities focus on debugging silicon, driving yield improvement and ensuring smooth wafer sort and final test production.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 10+ years of product/test engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Bring up and debug first silicon to identify design, process or test issues quickly.
- Ramp yield for new product introductions and perform yield analysis versus D0 projections.
- Identify low-yield detractors and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Work with OSATs and fabs to support wafer sort (WS) and final test (FT) production, including tester correlation and hold-lot disposition.
- Generate and review real-time SBL and SYL to identify production outliers and generate customer reports per commitment.
- Drive test-time reduction to meet product cost-of-goods targets.
- Manage WIP and cycle time and provide feedback to improve production flow.
Requirements
Core must-have and preferred skills (education items are summarized under Education Requirements below):
Must-have:
- 10+ years of product/test engineering experience focused on production support and NPI.
- Hands-on experience with test hardware/software (e.g., Smartest, Exascale, V93K).
- Strong test data analysis capability (tools such as Synopsys, Galaxy, Jump).
- Proven experience interfacing with OSATs and wafer fabs to resolve production issues.
- Knowledge of memory interfaces (e.g., DDRx, RCDs, PMICs, SPD, TS).
- Ability to generate production analytics/reports and perform yield/root-cause analysis.
- Strong communication, organization and prioritization skills; able to work independently and set technical direction.
Nice-to-have:
- Programming skills (C++, JavaScript, Python) for automation and analysis.
- Wafer sort and final test NPI setup/production experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred.
