Job Title

PCIe, CXL and High-Speed I/O Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Principal validation engineer on the datacenter CPU post-silicon validation team focused on high-speed I/O (PCIe, CXL), multi-socket and inter-die interfaces. The role develops validation infrastructure, test content, and debug processes to ensure SoC and system-level quality for AMD server products.

This position is based in the U.S.; it is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Experience Level

Senior β€” principal-level role. Typical guidance: ~5+ years (MS) or 7+ years (BS) in SoC or high-speed I/O validation/engineering roles.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include test development, infrastructure, and cross-team debug for high-speed I/O on server SoCs and systems.

  • Develop and execute feature enablement and validation test plans for SoC- and system-level features across server products focused on high-speed I/O.
  • Create test content for focused verification and system-level stress testing, including cross-product stress tests.
  • Design and build post-silicon validation infrastructure: software, hardware, automation, and lab setups.
  • Test interactions among SoC features using validation infrastructure and run platform-level stress scenarios.
  • Debug issues, drive root-cause analysis, and coordinate fixes with cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with architecture, design, firmware, and platform teams to improve validation methodology, processes, and debug tooling.
  • Participate in silicon bring-up, sequencing, analysis, and platform optimization.

Requirements

Required and preferred technical skills and attributes for immediate impact.

Must-have:

  • Hands-on experience in SoC design or validation for high-speed I/O interfaces and platform-level validation.
  • Experience with PCIe (Gen5/Gen6+) and CXL; familiarity with UCIe or other inter-die/multi-socket server interfaces.
  • Proven experience developing validation methodologies, test plans, workloads, and automation infrastructure.
  • Silicon bring-up and system-level debug experience; strong root-cause analysis skills at SoC and system level.
  • Proficiency with programming/scripting languages such as C/C++, Python, or Perl for test/infrastructure development.
  • Working knowledge of server operating systems (Linux and Windows).
  • Extensive experience with lab equipment (protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes) and board/platform-level debug.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective verbal/written communication.

Nice-to-have:

  • Understanding of x86 microprocessor and server platform architecture.
  • Experience across multiple concurrent projects and driving cross-team programs to completion.
  • Experience improving development processes, code architecture, and validation toolchains.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 7+ years of relevant experience; or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
