Package Application Engineer
Role Summary
The Package Application Engineer designs and implements packaging methods for new product development to meet functional requirements and manufacturing-quality standards. The role coordinates with engineering, supplier quality, and procurement to ensure packing materials and processes are validated and controlled through the product lifecycle.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early career. New graduates are considered; typical candidates have about 1–2 years of relevant experience in IC/discrete product development projects.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop packaging methods for new product projects in compliance with release requirements and customer quality expectations.
- Identify technical risks and propose mitigations using tools such as Design FMEA and fitting simulation analysis.
- Establish and maintain project control methodologies where applicable.
- Manage material design change control for carrier tape, cover tape, labels, inner boxes, MBB, and related packaging items.
- Ensure packaging materials and processes are implemented and validated throughout the development lifecycle.
- Assess supplier technology and capabilities with supplier quality and procurement.
- Support engineering teams on customer change requests, complaints, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications (education items are listed separately below):
- Team-oriented; able to coordinate with multiple packaging and manufacturing stakeholders.
- Logical, data-driven approach to identify and resolve technical or project-blocking issues.
- Approximately 1–2 years relevant experience in IC/discrete development projects, or a new graduate with applicable internship/project experience.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (about 2–3 times per quarter).
- Nice-to-have: proficiency in Mandarin.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with product data management systems and experience with CAD/SolidWorks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or Materials Science is expected. A Master’s degree or higher is preferred. New graduates are considered and on-the-job training/mentoring will be provided.
