Optoelectronic Test Development Engineer
Role Summary
Design and integrate test hardware and metrology solutions for semiconductor photonic devices used in Apple products. Work within the Camera Semiconductor Technologies group to develop calibration, characterization, and test algorithms and hardware for deployment on mass-production test stations.
Experience Level
Mid-level - preferred 3+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor optoelectronic test or related roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing test hardware and algorithms, validating test solutions with suppliers, and supporting production test stations.
- Develop calibration and metrology methodologies for photonic devices.
- Create and validate test metrology algorithms for mass-production test stations.
- Collaborate with tester hardware suppliers to define and validate test solutions.
- Conduct failure analysis to determine root causes of tester malfunctions or inaccuracies.
- Produce written documentation of tool specifications and failure analysis findings.
- Work closely with characterization labs and cross-functional teams (process, optical, mechanical, electrical engineering).
Requirements
Must-have technical experience followed by preferred qualifications.
- Must-have: Experience in semiconductor electro-optical test or a closely related field.
- Experience managing external suppliers to deliver hardware solutions.
- Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation and bench-level components (examples: lens components, SMUs, spectrometers, colorimeters, metrology cameras).
- Nice-to-have: Experience working in a wafer fab environment and demonstrated ability to work with international teams and lead global suppliers.
- Familiarity with computer vision or image processing techniques.
- Experience with scientific computing languages such as MATLAB or Python.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Education Requirements
BS degree required. MS or PhD preferred. Fields of study not specified.
