Optical Package Test Engineer
Role Summary
Join NVIDIA's Advanced Technology Group (ATG) to test and validate optical packages used in NVIDIA products. The role focuses on benchtop optical testing, updating test methodologies, data collection, and cross-functional collaboration to define optical package test requirements.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early Career - approximately 2+ years of relevant hands-on experience is expected or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include hands-on testing, process documentation, and cross-team coordination to ensure optical package quality and manufacturability.
- Perform benchtop testing using lasers, optical power meters (OPM), bit-rate meters (BRM), optical switches, and related equipment.
- Update and improve testing methodologies, procedures, and optical test equipment.
- Create and maintain documentation to standardize workflows and test procedures.
- Collect, process, and visualize optical test data and parameters from test chips.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and validate optical package testing requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- Practical experience with benchtop optical test setups and hands-on testing.
- Experience using lasers, OPM, BRM, optical switches, or equivalent optical test equipment.
- Familiarity with optical connector standards and basic photonic device concepts.
- Experience collecting and visualizing test data; ability to interpret optical measurement results.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to measurement detail.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with JMP for data visualization.
- Basic Python programming for data analysis or test automation.
- Experience in the fiber industry or with fiber-based components.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Data Science, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience (listed as 2+ years of relevant work experience in the posting).
