IP Validation Engineer - Machine Learning Accelerators
Role Summary
Work on Reality Labs silicon to validate and characterize machine-learning accelerator IP across emulation, prototypes, and silicon. The role focuses on HW–SW integration, workload bring-up, performance/power characterization, and cross-layer debugging.
You will partner with RTL design, verification, emulation, SoC architecture, compiler, firmware/runtime, and ML model teams to define validation requirements and drive issues to resolution.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 8+ years of relevant experience in consumer electronics or related fields.
Responsibilities
Deliver validation and characterization for ML accelerator IP and drive cross-functional debug and improvements.
- Define and execute HW–SW integration, functional validation, and characterization plans across emulation, prototyping, and silicon.
- Develop test methodologies and detailed test plans for new features and technologies.
- Participate in design reviews and recommend test strategy improvements.
- Create test setups, collect and analyze data to diagnose issues and verify fixes.
- Bring up ML workloads, identify root causes of cross-layer issues, and coordinate fixes with multiple teams.
- Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and summarize large data sets for stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and relevant experience.
- Experience creating validation plans and test methodologies for hardware products and new technologies.
- Experience with HW–SW integration and validation of ML accelerators or other programmable compute IP, including workload bring-up, functional debug, and performance characterization.
- Familiarity with common SoC hardware interfaces (AXI, APB, AHB, OCP).
- Experience troubleshooting test escapes and coordinating with component vendors.
- Proven ability to collect, analyze, and summarize test data to communicate results to stakeholders.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams and external vendors to execute validation plans.
- Background in consumer electronics product lifecycle and partner ecosystems.
- Verification or systems engineering experience and embedded systems exposure (RTOS/Android/Linux).
- Scripting for test automation and data processing; familiarity with ML frameworks, compilers, or deployment workflows.
- Experience working with overseas development and manufacturing partners; strong communication skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
