Job Title

NPU Software Development Internship

Role Summary

Internship on the NPU software team within Intel's Silicon and Platform Engineering Group. The role focuses on contributing to the NPU Compiler, specifically the NPU Cost Model, and on applying software engineering practices to AI-related compiler components.

Work with engineers on design, implementation, and optimization tasks for AI software solutions; this is a hands-on role intended for an undergraduate intern working on real engineering deliverables.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship, undergraduate). Suitable for students pursuing a relevant technical degree; no prior professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include supporting development and integration work for the NPU Cost Model and associated compiler components. Tasks are collaborative and engineering-focused.

  • Support development and integration of the NPU Cost Model as a subcomponent of the NPU Compiler.
  • Implement and test software components, primarily using C++.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to analyze and optimize performance for AI workloads.
  • Write and maintain code quality artifacts such as tests and documentation for assigned work.
  • Learn and apply AI fundamentals and compiler concepts relevant to assigned tasks.

  • Must-have: Solid knowledge of C++ programming.
  • Must-have: Good command of English, both written and spoken.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field (undergraduate; ideally graduating in 2028). Student/intern status expected for internship eligibility.
