NPI Engineer, Chip
Role Summary
Owner for New Product Introduction (NPI) operations and supplier management to ensure product manufacturability, on-time delivery, and compliance with scope and budget. Works cross-functionally with R&D, engineering, quality, finance and business teams to transition designs into production.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Prefer candidates with 3+ years of experience leading complex, technology-intensive projects.
Responsibilities
Operational and program-management responsibilities for NPI and supplier activities. Key duties include:
- Lead NPI projects from an operational perspective and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Manage suppliers and partners to establish a manufacturing-capable supply chain.
- Identify critical paths and bottlenecks; implement risk mitigation and contingency plans.
- Define and execute schedules, SOWs, and budgets to ensure on-time delivery.
- Drive early involvement in pre-design phases to prepare infrastructure for production transfer.
- Assess vendor manufacturing capabilities and influence qualification and loading decisions.
- Develop and improve project-management processes for tracking, transparency, and execution.
- Report program status and risks to senior management.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 3+ years proven experience leading sophisticated, technology-intensive projects.
- Strong engineering background with business and operations proficiency.
- Excellent attention to detail and sound decision-making skills.
- Independent, proactive, and able to own tasks while diving into technical details as needed.
- Flexible working hours to coordinate with global partners and meet deadlines.
- Ability to manage schedules, prioritize work, and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
- Good interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Fluent English (reading, writing, speaking) and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Nice-to-have: experience with supply chain management and semiconductor industry knowledge.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. in Industrial, Electrical, Material engineering or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
