NOC Emulation Staff Engineer
QualcommJob Title
NOC Emulation Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Join the IP verification team to develop and execute hardware-assisted verification solutions using commercial emulation platforms. The role enables pre-silicon validation of complex SoCs, accelerates verification cycles, and supports debugging of system-level issues in collaboration with design, DV, architecture, software, and post-silicon teams.
Experience Level
Senior role - typically requires 4β10 years of experience in design verification and/or emulation; candidates with equivalent practical experience are considered.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing emulation environments, debugging runs, automating flows, and collaborating across teams.
- Port simulation-based verification environments to emulation platforms and develop synthesizable testbench components, transactors, and BFMs.
- Optimize testbenches and verification flows for emulation performance and scalability; enable long-running use cases.
- Analyze emulation failures, generate and inspect waveforms and transaction traces, and perform root-cause analysis across RTL, testbench, and software.
- Compare emulation results with simulation and silicon; work with design teams to resolve functional and performance bugs.
- Develop automation for regression execution, result collection, and reporting; improve compile and runtime efficiency.
- Participate in verification planning, coverage reviews, and signoff; mentor junior engineers and contribute to team best practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience are listed below; preferred items follow.
- 4β10 years of experience in design verification and/or emulation.
- Strong understanding of digital design fundamentals and computer architecture.
- Expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Hands-on experience with emulation platforms such as Cadence Palladium, Synopsys ZeBu, or Siemens Veloce.
- Experience with synthesizable testbench development, transaction-based acceleration, and hybrid/emulation methodologies.
- Debugging experience with Verdi, DVE, SimVision, or similar waveform/analysis tools.
- Proficient in Linux/Unix environments and scripting (Python, Perl, Shell).
Nice-to-have:
- Protocol experience: PCIe, CXL, AXI/AHB/APB.
- SoC-level verification, firmware validation, embedded software bring-up, performance or low-power validation, or post-silicon correlation.
- Exposure to GPU, AI/ML, Automotive, Mobile, Networking, or Datacenter SoCs.
- Familiarity with C/C++, SystemC/TLM, formal verification, or FPGA prototyping.
Education Requirements
Acceptable qualifications include a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering field. The posting specifies degree-plus-experience combinations (e.g., Bachelor's +4 years, Master's +3 years, PhD +2 years) or equivalent practical work experience.
