New College Grad - Module Hardware Engineer

Role Summary

Micron's Module Development Engineering team designs, validates, and characterizes DRAM memory module products. This role performs hardware validation and characterization of DRAM module PCBAs, develops test methods and automation tools, supports design verification, and applies AI tools to improve validation workflows.

Experience Level

Entry-level. The title targets new college graduates; the minimum qualifications list 3+ years of relevant hardware design or validation experience.

Responsibilities

Primary duties focus on hardware characterization, test development, automation, and cross-functional collaboration to qualify DRAM memory modules.

• Perform design, development, validation, and characterization of DRAM memory modules and related hardware systems, including signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and module performance using laboratory equipment and test platforms.
• Develop, execute, and improve test methods, validation plans, project schedules, and engineering processes to verify designs and support product qualification.
• Characterize active components (PMICs, RCDs, switching regulators, thermal sensors) and correlate measurements with simulation results.
• Develop and modify software tools and automation solutions to support validation activities, data organization, and reporting.
• Apply AI, generative AI, and AI-assisted tools to automate data analysis, enhance reporting, and increase validation efficiency.
• Conduct failure analysis and provide engineering documentation to support product development and release.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience, plus preferred skills that strengthen candidacy.

• Must-have: 3+ years of experience in hardware design, hardware validation, electrical characterization, board-level debugging, or system-level hardware testing.
• Must-have: Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, or similar laboratory instrumentation.
• Must-have: Experience developing test methods, executing validation plans, and documenting engineering results.
• Must-have: Programming or scripting experience in Python, C/C++, or similar languages for automation and data analysis.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with DRAM technologies, memory modules, high-speed digital interfaces, or PCBA design and validation.
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of SI/PI, power delivery systems, PMICs, RCDs, switching regulators, and related characterization techniques.
• Nice-to-have: Experience developing automated test frameworks, dashboards, Jira workflows, or data management tools.
• Nice-to-have: Experience applying AI, generative AI, or AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity and automation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
