Job Title
NAND BM IP RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and deliver high-quality RTL for NAND/memory IP within Samsung's memory engineering organization. The role focuses on RTL implementation that meets performance, emulation compatibility, and area targets and participates in specification, micro-architecture definition, and FPGA prototyping.
The position works with memory teams across design, verification and prototyping to enable memory products and IP used in storage and system solutions.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 6+ years of RTL design experience (Verilog/SystemVerilog).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include RTL design, specification, verification support, and prototype development.
- Perform concept and specification study for Samsung memory (Flash, DRAM) IP.
- Implement RTL with focus on performance, emulation compatibility, and area efficiency.
- Write detailed design specifications and micro-architecture documents.
- Design complex state machines, datapaths, and arbitration logic.
- Develop unit-level testbenches to validate functionality.
- Support emulation and FPGA-based prototype development and debugging.
- Model and simulate performance to meet targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate IP into larger systems.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
-
Must-have: 6+ years RTL design experience using Verilog or SystemVerilog.
-
Must-have: Strong RTL coding practices and RTL debugging/problem-solving skills.
-
Must-have: Experience designing complex state machines, datapaths, and arbitration logic.
-
Must-have: Exposure to emulation-compatible RTL design and experience with unit-level testbenches.
-
Must-have: Experience with FPGA-based prototype development.
-
Nice-to-have: Prior memory (Flash/DRAM) design experience.
-
Nice-to-have: Knowledge of area-optimization techniques for emulation platforms and performance modeling.
-
Nice-to-have: Ability to produce clear design specifications and micro-architecture documents; self-driven and able to work independently.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering: B.Tech / B.E. or M.Tech / M.E. (engineering degrees listed in the posting). No explicit alternative "equivalent experience" language was provided.
