Job Title

MTS, Systems Software Engineering

Role Summary

Operate and maintain lab infrastructure and reference platforms used for architecture exploration, workload characterization, memory subsystem validation, FPGA prototyping, and customer enablement. The role supports system bring-up, test equipment operation, environment configuration, and automation to enable reproducible validation and data-driven engineering.

The position sits within DASG Architecture Lab and Customer Enablement Lab teams and requires effective collaboration with architecture, validation, and external partner teams. AI proficiency and AI-enabled workflows are required where applicable.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in server architecture, platform bring-up, system validation, or lab infrastructure operations.

Responsibilities

Primary operational and technical responsibilities:

  • Own day-to-day bring-up, readiness, maintenance, and operational support of lab systems, racks, benches, test equipment, and reference platforms.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain servers, GPUs, FPGAs, client/mobile AI platforms, analyzers, and environmental test equipment supporting workload characterization and pathfinding.
  • Build and maintain stable, reproducible validation environments (BIOS, BMC, firmware, OS, drivers, networking, power and thermal configurations).
  • Collaborate with architecture and validation teams to enable memory trace capture, workload analysis, DRAM replay, and power/performance characterization.
  • Develop and maintain operational processes for asset tracking, configuration management, equipment allocation, calibration monitoring, and lab readiness.
  • Create automation to improve lab setup, health monitoring, regression execution, result collection, and reporting (Python, shell, or similar).
  • Diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues spanning hardware, firmware, software, networking, power, thermal, and equipment-control domains.
  • Support customer and partner enablement through system preparation, configuration optimization, debug, and performance characterization while promoting safety and operational excellence.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • 5+ years of experience in server architecture, system-level validation, platform bring-up, hardware/software debug, or engineering lab infrastructure operations.
  • Proven experience configuring and maintaining validation platforms and laboratory test equipment (protocol analyzers, power analyzers, oscilloscopes, environmental chambers, etc.).
  • Experience developing automation using Python, shell scripting, or similar technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with BIOS, BMC, firmware, operating systems, device drivers, networking, storage, power delivery, and thermal management in lab environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, firmware, software, networking, power, and thermal domains and ability to coordinate with global teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to create reproducible validation setups and manage configuration and asset lifecycles.
  • AI proficiency and familiarity with AI-enabled workflows; ability to apply Agentic/Generative AI usage models where appropriate.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with DRAM, LPDDR, HBM, CXL, memory subsystem architecture, or memory validation workflows.
  • Experience supporting AI/ML, HPC workloads, GPU platforms, and performance characterization (2+ years preferred).
  • Familiarity with CUDA, ROCm, DRAMSim3, Ramulator2, trace capture/replay methodologies, or related modeling/analysis tools.
  • Experience with FPGA platforms, hardware prototyping, protocol debugging, multi-site lab operations, or equipment lifecycle management.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Preferred: Master’s degree in those fields or equivalent experience. The posting allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of an advanced degree.
