MTS, Systems Engineer

Role Summary

Design, evaluate, and optimize next-generation DRAM memory systems for AI accelerators. Work on hardware architecture, operating systems, and system-level performance analysis to support agentic AI inference workloads.

Member of the DRAM Systems Engineering team focusing on R&D, prototyping, and system-level evaluation for memory hierarchies and agentic AI workflows.

Experience Level

Senior - role expects substantial experience; the posting indicates 10+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent advanced degree).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include characterization, prototyping, and system-level evaluation for AI memory systems.

• Characterize AI inference workloads and analyze memory behavior.
• Design, build, and evaluate tiered memory hierarchies for AI accelerators.
• Study KV cache lifecycles, mixture-of-experts models, and data placement strategies.
• Compare and optimize explicit versus hardware-assisted data movement.
• Develop, test, debug, and document system-level and OS components.
• Prototype and evaluate agentic AI systems: build agents and multi-agent workflows using modern frameworks and orchestration patterns (planning, tool use, memory and context management); use these systems both as workloads and as engineering accelerators.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

• Proven background in memory systems, operating systems, distributed systems, or parallel computing.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python with hands-on systems programming experience.
• Experience working in Linux environments, including shell scripting and debugging tools.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with advanced memory technologies such as HBM and LPDDR.
• Familiarity with AI/ML systems, particularly inference workloads.
• Experience with GPU programming frameworks such as CUDA or OpenCL.
• Knowledge of performance analysis and system-level optimization techniques.
• Experience with Linux kernel memory management or system-level simulation models.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree plus 10+ years of experience, or a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
