MTS Firmware Engineer
Role Summary
Technical leader responsible for defining architecture and long-term strategy for Common Services firmware across multiple SSD product generations. Work spans hardware, silicon, system software, and product teams to improve performance, reliability, and development efficiency.
Experience Level
Senior - requires at least 7 years of embedded firmware development experience and 3+ years of SSD industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define and evolve Common Services firmware architecture and technical strategy across SSD products and storage platforms.
- Lead design of embedded firmware solutions, establish engineering standards, and drive architectural decisions to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Partner with hardware, silicon, system software, and product teams to solve system-level challenges and optimize the storage stack.
- Communicate architecture plans, technical risks, and technology recommendations to engineering and business stakeholders.
- Mentor senior engineers, promote engineering excellence, and lead adoption of AI-assisted development practices.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 7+ years of embedded firmware development experience with architectural ownership and technical leadership in the storage or semiconductor industry.
- 3+ years of SSD industry experience with expertise in Common Services firmware, ARC processors, compilers, and build environments.
- Expert-level proficiency in C and/or Rust.
- Deep knowledge of PCIe/NVMe storage architectures.
- Experience working across hardware, silicon, system software, and product teams to deliver complex technical solutions.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience defining firmware architecture and long-term technical strategy across product platforms.
- Expertise in firmware performance analysis, optimization, benchmarking, and system-level debugging.
- Experience with RISC-V processors, Python-based automation, and full-stack embedded systems.
- Track record of technical innovation (patents, publications, standards contributions, presentations).
- Experience evaluating and applying AI/ML to improve engineering productivity or product capabilities.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field was specified.
