Job Title
MTS Digital Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior digital design engineer on the GlobalFoundries Egypt digital design team responsible for architecting, implementing, and integrating complex RTL-based digital systems.
Focus areas include high-speed data-path design for optical transceivers, microarchitecture definition, timing closure, and driving cross-functional integration with system, analog/mixed-signal, and physical design teams.
Experience Level
Senior — requires extensive experience; posting specifies 10+ years of digital design and RTL development experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include full life-cycle digital design, high-speed logic architecture, and cross-team integration.
- Lead end-to-end digital design from microarchitecture definition through RTL implementation and integration.
- Architect and implement high-speed data-path logic for systems including optical transceiver pipelines.
- Define and review microarchitecture specifications with emphasis on throughput, latency, and timing closure.
- Drive design quality via code reviews, linting, CDC/RDC analysis, and synthesis best practices.
- Collaborate with system, analog/mixed-signal, and physical design teams to ensure correct high-speed interface integration.
- Optimize designs for performance, power, and area (PPA).
- Debug complex functional and integration issues across simulation, emulation, and silicon bring-up.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required for the role; preferred items listed separately.
-
Must-have: 10+ years of digital design and RTL development experience.
-
Must-have: Strong expertise in Verilog/SystemVerilog and digital design fundamentals.
-
Must-have: Solid understanding of microarchitecture design, clock domain crossing (CDC), and reset domain crossing (RDC).
-
Must-have: Low-power design techniques; synthesis and timing constraints experience.
-
Must-have: Experience with industry-standard EDA tools (synthesis, lint, CDC analysis, simulation).
-
Must-have: Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, including silicon bring-up support.
-
Nice-to-have: System-level design and hardware/software co-design experience.
-
Nice-to-have: Knowledge of DFT (scan, MBIST, JTAG) and bring-up flows; FPGA prototyping and emulation experience.
-
Nice-to-have: Scripting experience (Python, Tcl, or similar).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
