Job Title

MTS Design Engineering

Role Summary

Design and architect advanced digital signal processing and communication system solutions for ASIC-based optical transceivers. Translate system-level requirements into architectures, models, simulations, and validation plans while collaborating with cross-functional teams from concept through silicon validation.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Experience guidance: Master's degree with 3–8 years' experience OR Ph.D. with 0–5 years' experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system architecture, algorithm modelling, verification planning, and lab validation for high-speed optical transceivers.

  • Define design specifications, chip-level requirements, architecture, and micro-architecture for signal processing and communication algorithms.
  • Create verification strategies and laboratory test plans; document architectures and test procedures.
  • Develop bit-accurate models and simulations using MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++.
  • Build and run system-level transceiver simulation suites and perform vector-matching verification against RTL simulations.
  • Perform ASIC lab testing, debugging, and performance validation; collaborate with hardware and firmware teams.
  • Produce technical documentation and application notes; provide technical support to stakeholders as needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.

  • Must-have: Strong foundation in Communication Theory and Digital Signal Processing algorithms.
  • Must-have: Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, and Python; experience in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Must-have: Experience with bit-accurate modelling, simulation, and system-level transceiver verification against RTL.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with ASIC lab testing, debugging, and performance validation.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with analog circuit behavior, transmission line theory, and s-parameters.
  • Preferred: Prior experience architecting communication systems for high-performance ASIC-based products.
  • Preferred: Strong hands-on lab skills and practical validation experience.

Education Requirements

Master's degree (with 3–8 years of relevant experience) OR Ph.D. (with 0–5 years of relevant experience). The posting does not specify fields of study or certifications; applicants with advanced degrees in relevant technical disciplines or equivalent practical experience are typical for this role.
