Role Summary
PhD-level internship supporting development and optimization of manufacturing processes for a specific semiconductor module within Intel Foundry Services. The role is hands‑on and focuses on sustaining and improving equipment, troubleshooting, qualification activities, and collaborating with engineers to meet production targets.

Entry-level - PhD candidate / student internship (summer intern).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on process development, equipment support, and data-driven process control to improve yield and throughput.
- Support development and implementation of semiconductor manufacturing processes for a specific module.
- Sustain and improve manufacturing equipment performance to ensure operational efficiency and reliability.
- Assist in equipment troubleshooting and qualification activities to meet production standards.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize process control methodologies and meet production targets.
- Apply statistical analysis and design of experiments to improve process reliability and throughput.
- Perform materials and device characterization (e.g., SEM, TEM) and support related measurements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of process control systems and methodologies.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful internship performance.
- Hands-on experience or knowledge of semiconductor processing fundamentals (lithography, etch, polishing, deposition).
- Familiarity with statistical data analysis and design of experiments methodologies.
- Experience with materials and physical device characterization techniques (SEM, TEM).
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and support qualification activities.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with advanced transistor device fabrication and process integration (ALD, CVD, RTA, ion implantation, surface treatments).
- Scripting or programming skills (Python, JSL, Perl, TCL, SQL, C/C++) and applied statistical analysis.
- Experience with process control systems and sources of variability.
Education Requirements
Ph.D. degree in progress (PhD candidate) in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
