Lattice SemiconductorJob Title
Modeling Design, Staff Engineer
Role Summary
The Modeling Design Staff Engineer develops and validates models for analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits used in Lattice FPGAs. This role partners with architecture, design, and verification teams to ensure model accuracy, performance, and usability across product releases.
Works as a technical lead and mentor for circuit modeling engineers and coordinates cross-functional feedback to improve model quality and performance.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires several years of applied experience; the posting specifies 5+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing, validating, and optimizing circuit models and guiding their consumption by internal teams.
- Develop and validate models for analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits used in FPGA products.
- Perform digital and mixed-signal simulation and analysis using Verilog, VHDL, SystemVerilog, SPICE, and similar tools.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to circuit modeling engineers.
- Collaborate with design and architecture teams to capture circuit requirements and translate them into accurate models.
- Analyze simulation results and iterate on models to improve accuracy, performance, and efficiency.
- Document modeling processes, assumptions, and results for stakeholders.
- Optimize models for runtime performance and integration with verification flows.
- Keep current with modeling techniques, tools, and best practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; items marked as "nice-to-have" are additional strengths.
- Proven experience in circuit modeling and simulation (analog, digital, mixed-signal).
- Proficiency with simulation tools such as SPICE, Verilog, VHDL, and SystemVerilog.
- Experience with higher-level modeling (SystemC) and SystemVerilog-based modeling techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret simulation data and drive model improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical work and mentor junior engineers; strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience documenting modeling methodologies and delivering results to internal customers.
- Nice-to-have: experience with data analysis and visualization tools to support model validation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. The posting specifies 5+ years of relevant experience in circuit modeling and simulation.
