Job Title

Mixed-Signal Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Validate system-level mixed-signal and photonic architectures for Lightmatter’s Passage product line, working across architecture, chip design, firmware, and software teams. The role focuses on translating pre-silicon verification into robust post-silicon validation and supporting high-volume production.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting specifies 7+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Own validation of mixed-signal architecture from concept to production and coordinate cross-functional test and verification activities.

  • Own mixed-signal architecture validation for the Passage product line and coordinate with architecture, chip design, and software teams.
  • Validate and specify system-level mixed-signal designs integrating AMS and photonic circuits (drivers/receivers, SerDes, ADC/DAC, digital controllers, modulators, detectors).
  • Translate pre-silicon verification results into post-silicon validation with the DV and test teams.
  • Work with test/validation engineers to compare hardware results to simulation predictions and refine test methodologies.
  • Support architectural-level firmware validation and interfaces between hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Author and review architectural specifications, test plans, and mitigation strategies for identified risks.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, hands-on lab experience, and product-delivery experience.

  • 7+ years of relevant experience (senior role).
  • In-depth knowledge of AMS electronics design flows, preferably applied to photonic communication channels.
  • Proven track record delivering high-volume silicon and familiarity with silicon product development flow.
  • Expertise in mixed-signal circuit design for high-speed analog/photonic links, including device bring-up, control, and DSP interfaces.
  • Hands-on experience with lab instruments and test setups for bring-up and validation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for ambiguous technical problems.
  • Ability to collaborate across digital, analog, photonic, firmware, and software teams.
  • Compliance capability with U.S. export control laws (candidates must be able to comply with applicable export control requirements).

Education Requirements

MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field is specified. The posting links the MS requirement to senior-level experience (7+ years). Fields mentioned include electrical engineering and related technical disciplines.
