Job Title

Mixed Signal Engineer Intern

Role Summary

Hands-on internship on analog and mixed-signal design and automation. The intern will work with experienced engineers to develop circuit designs, apply machine learning to design automation, and support design-flow and lab evaluation activities.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship; intended for current undergraduate, master’s, or PhD students with relevant coursework or research.

Responsibilities

The intern will contribute to design, automation, simulation, verification, and lab evaluation tasks.

  • Develop and validate machine learning models for analog design automation.
  • Analyze design data, simulation results, and layout metrics to extract insights.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to identify challenges and propose automation strategies.
  • Support tool development and scripting to improve the design flow.
  • Perform analog and mixed-signal circuit analysis, design, simulation, and verification in advanced CMOS nodes.
  • Work with layout engineers to optimize physical design.
  • Conduct lab evaluation and debug of pipeline ADCs; assist with test equipment setup and maintenance.
  • Document findings and present progress to the team.
  • Travel as required for role: up to 10%.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools for immediate contribution; nice-to-have items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Strong foundation in analog circuit design and mixed-signal systems.
  • Must-have: Experience with Python and machine learning libraries (for example scikit-learn or PyTorch).
  • Must-have: Familiarity with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso and transistor‑level simulation (SPICE).
  • Must-have: Experience with data analysis tools (for example MATLAB, pandas).
  • Must-have: Knowledge of ADC architectures, high-speed analog design, clocking, and calibration techniques.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to design automation concepts and analog layout-aware design.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with IC physical design and sub-micron process nodes.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience using lab equipment such as signal generators and spectrum analyzers.
  • Strong communication skills and initiative to explore interdisciplinary challenges.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate, master’s, or PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
